OUR ENVIRONMENT

Here in the Maldives, we are on the frontline of climate change. This is why we take our role as guardians of our fragile island habitat very seriously. And at each stage of your day at Embudu, you can be assured that, due to the steps we’ve taken, your impact on the environment is minimal.

Your hot shower in the morning is heated by rooftop solar panels, your breakfast cantaloupe was hydroponically grown in a nearby island and your lunchtime grill was caught locally by fishermen paid a fair wage.

In addition, our strict snorkelling policies ensure that the residents of our house reef are undisturbed by your presence there.
At the end of the day, as you slip between the sheets, our launder-when-needed programme will assure you that there’s been no water wastage along the way.

We tread lightly on the earth, leaving only footprints in the sand, and encourage our guests to do the same.

DIVE

Situated a boat ride away from some of the country’s most exciting dive sites, Embudu has it all! From turtles to manta rays and dozens of sharks; be prepared to tick a few things of your scuba bucket list! 

Apart from the captivating marine life, the experienced, multi-lingual team at Diverland, our dive center, you’ll be diving and learning with the best.

Closer to home, our house reef is just a short swim from the shore, meaning that by purchasing an Unlimited Diving Pass you can spend as much time below the surface as your dive computer will allow! Once purchased, simply pay a small supplement for a boat dive when you feel like going further afield.

WELLNESS

Far-flung, quiet and remote, Embudu is the perfect place to unwind and at Serena Spa, we are experts in the art of relaxation. Now part of the Heaven on Earth brand, Serena Spa is an international wellness group operating spas across the Indian Ocean, and beyond.

Our fully trained therapists offer a wide range of Ayurveda and Asian massages, alongside a number of indulgent beauty treatments. Perfect for soothing tired muscles after a day’s swimming.

Fishing
Whether it’s deep sea trawling or the traditional Maldivian hook and line method, fishing is an essential element of local life and a must-try when in the country. Our crew members learnt to fish almost as soon as they could walk, so there’s no-one better to teach you how to secure a catch!

Snorkelling
Our house reef is brimming with life, but that shouldn’t stop you from exploring the ocean further afield. Diverland offers daily snorkelling excursions to the best spots in the region and their experienced guides will make sure you’re in safe hands.

Water Sports
Flex your muscles with a spot of kayaking and if the wind picks up, why not brush up on your windsurfing skills? There’s Stand Up Paddle boarding for those who love to be on the water – you might even spot a stingray or two, as you glide over the lagoon. Bliss!
